Kite Flying Strictly Prohibited in Communities Surrounding

ANR Robinson International Airport

Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago wishes to remind persons in neighbouring communities around the ANR Robinson International Airport, that Kite Flying poses a serious threat to the safety of aircraft. Such objects can be easily ingested into aircraft engines or become entangled in aircraft propellers resulting in engine failure with consequent detrimental effects to aircraft passengers.

The Authority advises that Civil Aviation Order 1995 Article No. 72 1 (d) states that “within Trinidad and Tobago, a Kite shall not be flown within 5 km of an Aerodrome.” Persons contravening this provision shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) [Article 91 Section 6].

Kite flying within the Canaan, Bon Accord and Crown Point areas is strictly prohibited. The Mount Pleasant Recreational Grounds can however be used as a safe alternative.

Such objects can be easily ingested into aircraft engines or become entangled in aircraft propellers resulting in engine failure with consequent detrimental effects to aircraft passengers.

Kite flying in the communities of  St Helena,Kelly, and Warren Villages, Madras Road , Oropune Village, and Trincity is strictly prohibited.
