 Repairs Progress on Airfield Lighting System at ANR Robinson International Airport     13/12/2010

 On Saturday December 11, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. a failure in the airfield lighting     system, was reported to Airport Operations at the ANR Robinson International   Airport. Initial investigations revealed that a fault had developed in the lighting control system causing one of two edge light circuits to malfunction, and the second to operate at 50% serviceability.

Flight operations were suspended at 6:00 p.m. and maintenance personnel of the Authority deployed emergency solar edge lights. Flight operations resumed at Crown Point at 6:40 p.m.

Repair work continued on Sunday December 12 2010, and one circuit of edge lights was restored. Restoration efforts continued on Monday December 13, 2010 and as of 3:00 p.m. today the situation remains that 50% of lights are not functioning. The system is at this time being supplemented by solar lights.

The Authority’s maintenance crew is making every effort to bring the system back into full service. The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago continues to be dedicated to providing safe and secured aviation services at both the Crown Point and Piarco aerodromes.
