Lisa Singh Tull
Aviation Security Officer
Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago
My name is Lisa Singh Tull I am an Aviation Security Officer with the Airports Authority for the past fourteen years.
I've been at the Aviation Training Centre, attending several workshops and ICAO courses, my experience at the Centre has always been a good one. From the moment I enter the training facility, I am greeted by the friendly and accommodating staff and the warmth of the participants from our sister Island Tobago to the Caribbean. By the second day, no doubt, we automatically feel like family. One highlight for me was when I attended the IATA Business Ethics Training Programme, which was held on the 21st to 23rd October, 2015.
Ethics, and the importance of it at the workplace was elaborated in such a diverse way, from morality, law, normative, teleological to virtue and more. Code of Practice was also stressed upon since it guides behavior and the decision making process. Corporate Responsibility was the highlight of this programme since it was reiterated that Corporate Responsibility is voluntary.
It was shared and proven by a study that CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programmes lift sales, and improve employee productivity. Incremental change was stressed upon. It's the small things that would lead to bigger and brighter changes. If it does not lead to action, if it does not lead to incremental change(s)…it's a waste of time. I embraced these words.
The facilitator, Mr. William Polushin, indicated (to my amazement) that ethics and morality in the workplace were not the same.
Empowered is how I felt leaving the Aviation Training Centre, these words I can apply to my workplace, church, support group, family and anyone who cross my path that I can make a difference in one way or the other. This is what I embraced.
The Aviation Training Centre is truly a holistic institution that not only offers training for professional development but also personal enhancement. Its therapy for my soul.
National Civil Aviation Security Inspector
The Aviation Training Centre at the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has provided me with the much needed knowledge to carry out my job as a qualified National Civil Aviation Security Inspector here in The Bahamas.
The various Programmes suited my needs and also provided me with the practical exercises which empowered and equipped me to even better perform more effectively in the field. The training conducted by Mr. Sheldon Harper was exemplary and can be compared with any Ivy League University out there. My overall experience at the Centre was one of professionalism and hospitality.
